If you have question, we have answers…however, should you not find the information you are looking for, please feel free to call our office or e-mail us any questions you may have.We love to talk about smiles!Q: Why are braces necessary?A: Most people associate the need for braces with the desire for a perfect smile, however, when an orthodontist examines a patient he is determining the health and functionality of the bite first, and then the aesthetic benefits of aligning the teeth. Some of the long term risks from teeth not functioning ideally with one another include TMJ, weakened and/or broken teeth and periodontal disease leading to permanent tooth loss.Q: When is the the best time to see an orthodontist?A: The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that your child be evaluated at age seven. While the majority of children do not require active treatment this early, evaluating and monitoring growth can influence decisions about procedures like space maintenance or baby tooth extractions, which can sometimes lessen or avoid more difficult treatment later.Q: Can you be to old for braces?A: No! Dr. McLaughlin’s patients have ranged in age from 7 days (infants born with cleft palate) to 75 years! With the recent advances in orthodontics, adults now have more options than ever and are seeking treatment with increasing frequency. In addition to using the latest in brace technology - self-ligating braces, Dr. McLaughlin also has expertise with ceramic braces (clear braces), lingual braces (placed behind the teeth) and Invisalign.
Q: How long will treatment take?A: Because each patient is unique, Dr. McLaughlin’s treatment plans are customized to each person’s individual needs. Generally speaking, treatment may last between 6 months to 30 months depending on age, severity and patient cooperation.Q: Is treatment expensive?A: Considering the complexity of treatment and that results last a lifetime, orthodontics is an excellent value. Successful orthodontic treatment can also reduce the need for future dental care. Often times patients may incur significant costs later in life when dental needs are not addressed at the appropriate age. A wonderful benefit of orthodontic treatment which is difficult to put a price on is increased self-esteem and confidence.Q: Do you offer payment plans?A: Yes! We offer interest free payment plans. We are also happy to offer discounts for payment in full at the beginning of treatment and we also work with an outside financial institution to ensure that finances are not an obstacle.
Q: What about my insurance?A: We currently accept assignment for most insurance carriers and are happy to file claims and accept benefits on your behalf.
Q: Can I make or change my appointments online?A: Currently no. In the future we plan to implement online scheduling, but currently we ask that you call our office at 928-779-4568 to make or change your appointments |
